Frequently Asked Questions
Does Scalp Micropigmentation hurt?
Generally no – on a scale of 1-10, it's around 1-3. If you are especially sensitive, you can take a couple of paracetamol before the procedure. However, do not take blood thinning painkillers such as aspirin. The majority of our clients have no pain issues with treatment. It is much less painful than a traditional tattoo.
How Long Does It Last?
It is generally regarded a a permanent procedure, however after 4-6 years, some fading will occur. A one off top up session will be required to go over some of the faded areas to bring it back to looking fresh. How quickly this happens depends on aftercare and sun protection or exposure.
I don't live locally, can you do consultations over the phone or internet?
Providing you supply us with completed medical questionnaire and photos of your head at all angles required, we can perform consultations over the phone, Skype, WhatsApp or FaceTime. However we may not be able to tell the condition of your scalp from photos, so reserve the right to confirming the price in person when you attend for your patch test.
Will it turn blue like a tattoo?
No – we use Alivio – a natural, organic and vegan friendly pigment. It is stable and does not change colour. Unlike tattoo inks, pigments don’t turn blue.
Can I Get An Allergic Reaction
It is highly unlikely you will get an allergic reaction to the Alivio pigment. There have been no recorded cases of this happening and why we take the precaution of doing a patch test beforehand. If you suffer from allergies, these must be put on the medical questionnaire.
Will It Fade?
There is some fading within the first 4 weeks, but this is taken into account when selecting the correct pigment for you.
Will It Stop My Real Hair Growing
No, Scalp Micropigmentation does not stop real hair from growing.
